Computerised control of three nuclear power plants for the Tihange site (Belgium)

Tihange is one of two nuclear power sites in Belgium. It is home to three PWR plants, each with a power capacity of one GW, and one control training centre.
The plant's control panel allows operators to monitor the units using a wide range of data sent from sensors implemented throughout the plant. A large quantity of data can be quickly collected, analysed, sorted, archived and presented to the control room operators using Macq sytems. As well as data control, Macq systems can be used to:
  • Measure the reactor's radioactivity
  • Perform physical quantity measurements
  • Record disturbance data during unplanned events
  • Measure and calculate the units' heat balance

Computerised control of the Doel nuclear power plant (Belgium)

Control room ergonomy, along with lighting, are crucial elements in the control room. The plant's control panel allows operators to monitor the units using a wide range of data sent from sensors implemented throughout the plant. A large quantity of data can be quickly collected, analysed, sorted, archived and presented to the control room operators.
